'Cats Fall Short At GVSU
LLENDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team dropped its fifth match out of the past six with a three game loss to Grand Valley State on Saturday. The Lakers downed the Wildcats by scores of 27-30, 24-30, 20-30.
NMU falls to 14-9 overall on the season and 6-9 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). GVSU ranked sixth in the country this week improves to 23-2 overall and 16-1 in the conference.
Sam Schulte was the lone ‘Cat to record double-digits in kills with 13. She ended the match with a hitting percentage of .480. For the match NMU as a team had 36 kills in 120 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .150. Schulte also had two of the four blocks assists. Amy Andersen-Goldsworthy had the other two.
Brittany McGowan had 13 assists while teammate Rachel Martinez had 11. Megan Elliott had three service aces and 10 digs for the match. Mandie Meyer had a team-high 16 digs.
The ‘Cats will face Ferris State tomorrow (Oct. 22) in Big Rapids, Mich.
