HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team took the first game of the match against Hillsdale on Saturday before the Chargers came back to take the next three and the match (30-25, 16-30, 18-30, 21-30). Hillsdale is ranked 10th in this week’s CSTV/AVCA poll.
With the loss the ‘Cats fall to 13-5 overall on the season and 5-5 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The Chargers are a perfect 18-0 and 9-0 respectively.
Katt Garvick led the ‘Cats with 18 kills for the match. She had 49 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .245. She was the lone ‘Cat to have 10 or more kills for the match. As a team NMU had 41 kills in 147 attempts for a hitting percentage of .109.
At the net, Sam Schulte had three block solos and two block assists. Amy Andersen-Goldsworthy had two block assists. For the match NMU had four block solos and six block assists.
Brittany McGowan led the ‘cats with 28 assists and two service aces. Megan Elliott and Cassie Osiecki had 16 and 15 digs respectively.
NMU will be at home next week for two matches. The ‘Cats will host Ashland on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Findlay on Sunday, Oct. 8.
