NMU Soccer Team Beats Finlandia 11-0

HANCOCK –The Northern Michigan University soccer team hopes to continue its winning ways this weekend when it plays host to Concordia-St. Paul at 2 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 9) and Bemidji State at 1 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 10), both at the outdoor field behind the Superior Dome. The Wildcats improved to 4-1 on the year Wednesday with an 11-0 non-conference win over Division III Finlandia University on Wednesday (Sept. 6). 

Freshman Megan Ford opened the scoring with goals at 11:10 and 13:10. Junior Katie Alcini, sophomore Abigail Debiak and senior Colleen Klein each notched a goal and one assist. 

Other ‘Cat goals came from juniors Renee LeBlanc and Jami Beebe, sophomore Andrea Lebert and freshmen Emily Lockery, Ashley DeKeyser, and Jessica White.

The Wildcats out shot the Lions 42-1. Finlandia goalkeeper Ashley Jilek was credited with 15 saves while NMU freshman Dana Bush had 1 save.
