SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team is still undefeated on the season after picking up two wins on Saturday at the Alamo City Classic. The Wildcats won in three straight over Midwestern State (30-16, 30-20, 30-26) and Incarnate Word (30-16, 30-21, 30-19). With the wins the ‘Cats are now 8-0 on the season.
Sam Schulte and Mandie Meyer led NMU with 13 kills each against Midwestern State. Brittany McGowan had 28 assists for match-high honors. Three NMU players had 10 or more digs for the match.  Meyer led the way with 14 digs as she was followed by Cassie Osiecki with 11 and Breanne Zaremba added 10. Meyer was a force at the net with her one block solo and three block assists.
Schulte again led the ‘Cats in the second match of the day against Incarnate Word with 14 kills. Megan Elliott added 10 kills for the match. McGowan led all players with 24 assists. Meyer and Elliott led the ‘Cats with 12 and 11 digs respectively. Schulte had the lone block (solo) for the ‘Cats for the match.
NMU will jump into conference play on Tuesday (Sept. 5) when they host Michigan Tech.
