HOUGHTON, Mich. – All five runners who scored team points for the Northern Michigan University women’s cross country team placed in the top 10 at the U.P. Season Opener which was held at Michigan Tech on Friday afternoon. NMU scored 28 points while the host school was second with 49. Wartburg was third with 73 points and fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) member Wayne State was fourth with 99.
Kelly Ahern was the overall winner as she covered the course in 19:30.5. Laura Dewitt was fourth (19:50.0) as she was followed by teammate Lindsay Williams in sixth (20:18.5). The final two runners who scored for the ‘Cats were Bibian Mahy in eighth (20:40.5) and Lindsey Weier in ninth (20:43.0).
The ‘Cats will be in action next at the Midwest Open in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 16.
