SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team continues to roll as they took two matches on the first day of the Alamo City Classic on Friday. The Wildcats defeated Western Oregon in the team’s opening match of the day in three games (30-20, 30-15, 30-24). NMU wasted little time in going 6-0 on the season with a three-game win over Chadron State (30-12, 30-14, 30-25).
Against Western Oregon, three ‘Cats were in double-digits in the kill column. Mandie Meyer led the way with 13 kills as Megan Elliott and Sam Schulte both had 10. Brittany McGowan had a match-high 31 assists and 16 digs. On the block front, Kate Olechny had the lone solo block for the match and two block assists. Schulte had three block assists. Three ‘Cats had three service aces each as Olechny, McGowan and Meyer were deadly with the serve. 
Katt Garvick led the ‘Cats against Chadron State with a match-best 16 kills as she added four service aces. Rachel Martinez had 27 assists, which led all players.  Megan Elliott added 12 digs and three service aces. Cassie Osiecki added 11 digs on the defensive front. 
Day two on Saturday the ‘Cats will face Midwestern in the morning and Incarnate Word in the afternoon.
