DULUTH, Minn. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University menâ€Â™s basketball team dropped their fourth game of the season at theUniversity of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday night by a 70-57 score.  The â€Â˜Catsare now 1-4 on the season while the Bulldogs are 5-4. 


NMU shot 41.5 percent from the floor for the game (22-53) asin the first 20 minutes the â€Â˜Cats could manage 36.4 percent (8-22).  The â€Â˜Catswere down 13 points at the half 35-22.  UMD was 14-35 for 40 percent in thefirst half of action from the floor and ended the game with a shootingpercentage of 42.6 (26-61).


The â€Â˜Cats had the Bulldogs lead down to three points, at58-55, in the second half when Randy Alexandre went in for a lay-up with 5:35left in the game.   Ã‚ Alexandre converted another lay-up with 2:49 left and thescore 61-57 in favor of the home team, but that would be it for the â€Â˜Cats onthe night.  The Bulldogs ended the game with a nine-point run.


NMU was 6-17 for the game in three-pointers (35.3 percent)and 7-10 from the foul line (70 percent).  NMU did out-rebound the Bulldogs bya 35-33 count.  The â€Â˜Cats committed 19 turnovers on the night, and had fiveblocks and two steals. 


Ricky Volcy was the game-high scorer with 27 points on 12-18shooting from the floor.  He made half of his three-point shots as he was 3-6. He also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.  Alexandre was the only other â€Â˜Cat tohit for double-digits as he poured in 12 points.


NMU will be back in action against Finlandia on Tuesdaynight (Dec. 7) at 7:30 p.m. at the Berry Events Center.
