'Cats Stay Perfect On The Season With Second Half Burst


 

ASHLAND, Ohio â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s basketball team won their third game on a neutral floor on theseason by defeating Tiffin University 98-57 on Sunday.  The â€Â˜Cats are now 4-0overall for the season.  The Dragons are 2-4.

 

NMU had a four-point lead at halftime (41-37) before turningit on in the second half, just like yesterday.  The â€Â˜Cats scored 57 points inthe second 20 minutes of play as the Dragons scored 20.  The â€Â˜Cats shot 40.5percent from the floor in the first half, before shooting at a 71.9 percentclip in the second half (23-32).  For the game the â€Â˜Cats were 40-74 from thefloor for 54.1 percent.

 

NMU made one three-pointer in the first half as the teamconnected for 10 in the second half.  For the game the â€Â˜Cats were 11-25 fromthe three-point line for 44 percent.  From the free throw line, NMU was 7-8 forthe game for 87.5 percent.  NMU won the rebounding tussle with 40 to 32 for theDragons.

 

Maria Kasza off the bench led the â€Â˜Cats with 17 points, fourrebounds and four assists.  Holly Cole had 16 points for the game.  TiffanyGrubaugh chipped in with 15 points, seven rebounds and nine assists.  Also offthe bench Michelle Moard and Andrea Brooke each had 10 points. 

 

The â€Â˜Cats jump into GLIAC play on Wednesday (Dec. 1) as theytravel to Houghton, Mich. to take on the Huskies of Michigan Tech.
