'Cats Drop Third CCHA Game In A Row

 

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University hockey team dropped their third CCHA game in a row on Friday night at Lake Superior State University.  NMU had seven more shots on the night than the Lakers at38-31, but the home team scored two goals in the second period to put the gameaway 3-1.  NMU is now 5-4-2 overall on the season and 3-3-1 in the CCHA.  LSSUis 4-6-1 and 4-4-1 in conference play.

 

The Lakers jumped on the board first with a power-play goalby Nathan Ward at 5:04 of the first period.  Andrew Contois would tie the gameat one-all with his fourth goal of the season at 3:09 of the second period. Mike Santorelli and Matt Siddall assisted on the marker.  The Lakers added goalsin the middle frame by Kory Scoran at 8:13 and Matt Restoule at 16:46 for thefinal margin.

 

Bill Zaniboni was in front of the net for the â€Â˜Cats as hehad 28 saves on the night.  Matt Violin for Lake State had 37 saves for thegame.  The Lakers were 2-6 on the power play while the â€Â˜Cats were 0-4. 

 

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the Berry Events Center as the puck will drop at 7:35 p.m.
