
DETROIT, Mich. â€Â“ The Aqua-â€Â˜Cats traveled toMotown today to face the music against Wayne State and Hillsdale in a doubledual. NMU lost to the Warriors 131-112 and defeated the Chargers 147-86. SamPechek won three individual events on the day for the Aqua-â€Â˜Cats.ÂÂ
Lindsey Vermillion won the second event of the day which wasthe 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:42.32. The Aqua-â€Â˜Cats won the nextevent, the 200 freestyle, as Pechek swam a 1:59.44 for the victory. Pechekthen followed that win up by taking the 100 freestyle in a time of 55.17 asteammate Mimi Marschall was second in the event (55.75). Her third win on theday came in the 500 freestyle as she swam the 20 laps in a time of 5:22.01. Inthe same event, Dobratz was third (5:30.21) and Vermillion was fourth(5:31.65).  ÂÂ
Anna Herman placed third in the 50 freestyle with a time of26.22 as teammate Cricket Knight was next (26.62). Marschall was third in the200 individual medley with a time of 2:16.15 as teammate Larisa Graham was next(2:17.61). Sarah Bartosh placed third in the 100 butterfly (1:02.81) andsecond in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.59). In the 100 backstroke, Sarah Dobratzwas third (1:04.94).ÂÂ
NMU captured the final event of the meet the 400 freestyle relay. Graham, Herman, Knight and Marschall swam a 3:46.28 for the victory.ÂÂ
The Aqua-â€Â˜Cats will swim again on Dec. 1-4 at the Notre DameInvite.
