EVANSVILLE, Ind. â€Â“ For the fifth year in a row theNorthern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s cross country team placed in the top eightat the NCAA II National Cross Country Championships with their seventh placefinish at the event today.  The â€Â˜Cats scored 234 team points as Adams State wonthe event with 31 team points.  GLIAC member Grand Valley State was fourth with171 team points.


â€ÂœI am very happy with the season and how it went,â€Â StenFjeldheim said.  â€ÂœWe ran a very solid race today.â€ÂÃƒ‚  Stephanie Howe led theâ€Â˜Cats with a 20th overall place and a 13th team placewith a time of 22:40.5.  The place earned her NCAA II All-American honors.  TamiKochen was the next â€Â˜Cat to cross the finish line in a time of 23:38.6 whichwas good for a 47th team place and a 63rd place overall. 


The next three â€Â˜Cats were Kelly Ahern who was 74thoverall and 57th in the team placing (23:52.5); Jane Stieber withher 23:54.4 was 75th overall and 58th for the team score;and Lindsay Williams was the final â€Â˜Cat to score as she covered the course in atime of 23:54.4 as she was right behind teammate Stieber with a 76thoverall placing and a 59th place in the team race.
