MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s swimming and diving team has been named as an Academic All-AmericanTeam by the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).


The Wildcats, with a team grade-point average of 3.19,ranked in the top 25 on the list.  Wheeling Jesuit University was the topwomenâ€Â™s team in NCAA II with a 3.71 GPA.


Michelle Ruiz earned individual CSCAA Academic All-Americanhonors with a 3.51 GPA.  To earn Academic All-American status, student-athletesmust earn a minimum of a 3.5 GPA and qualify for the NCAA, NAIA or NJCAAchampionships.  Student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA who earn NCAA â€ÂœBâ€Â times areeligible for Academic All-American Honorable Mention honors.
