Women's Basketball Adds Four More
MARQUETTE, Mich. Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚“ Troy Mattson, the head womenÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™sbasketball coach at Northern Michigan University, announces four morestudent-athletes have signed on to join the womenÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s basketball program.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ NicoleGrengs, Kelsey Hoffmann, LaShawn Lambert and Natalie Larocque recently signedwith the Wildcats.Ãƒ‚Ã‚
The four join Angie Leckson from Big Bay de Noc, Mich. and Stephanie Piotrowski from Ida, Mich. who signed during the early signing periodin the fall.
Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚œThese players fill needs that we have on the team,Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚ Mattsonsaid.
Grengs a local product from Marquette, Mich. and Marquette Senior High School is a 5-10 wing player.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ She averaged 10.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg and 2.4apg.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ The MSHS team went 20-1 this past season and was named the Class AB U.P.Team of the Year.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Grengs was a first-team all-conference, a second-teamAll-U.P. and a fourth-team Class A All-State selection.
Hoffmann is a 5-11 wing player from Appleton, Wis. and Appleton North High School.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ She was injured the majority of her senior season,but averaged 11.9 ppg and seven rpg during her junior campaign.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Hoffmann was atwo-time second-team all-conference selection during her high school career.
Lambert, a 5-10 wing player from Cleveland, Ohio is a transfer from Lakeland Community College.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ She averaged a double-double with 16.5ppg and 12.5 rpg.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Lambert was a second-team all-conference selection.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ She wasnamed to All-Tournament teams at the Kirtland CC and Lakeland CC tournaments.
Larocque is a 5-7 point guard from Quebec City, Quebec and Dawson College in Montreal.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ She averaged 12.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 3.1 apg.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Larocque was a First-Team FQSE All-Star and was named MVP of her team.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Larocque was selected to the Provincial All-Tournament Team where she averaged24.5 points a game in three games.
