Michelle Ruiz Named Most Valuable For NMU Swimming And Diving Team

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Michelle Ruiz was named theMost Valuable performer of the Northern Michigan University swimming and divingteam at it recent banquet. 

 

She won the 1-meter board and was second on the 3-meter atthe Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Swimming and DivingChampionships. 

 

The Most Improved Award went to Meghan Merkey.  She placed16th at the GLIAC Championships in the 500-yard freestyle. 

 

These awards were voted on by team members.

 

The Coachâ€Â™s Choice Award recipient was Anna Herman.  She wasin the top six at the GLIAC Championships in three events.  Herman was third inthe 100 butterfly, fifth in the 200 I.M. and sixth in the 200 butterfly. 

 

Lindsey Kuehn was presented with the Bob Laughna DedicationAward.  She placed 12th in the 1,650 freestyle at the GLIACChampionships.
