MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s basketball team announces its 2005-06 award winners.  AllisonCarroll led the way by picking up three awards at the teamâ€Â™s banquet which washeld on April 20.  Kelsey Deacon and Tera Opperman took home two awards each.


Carroll was the recipient of the Most Valuable Player,Playmaker and Best Rebounder Awards.  She led the 2005-06 Wildcats in scoringwith 351 points (14.0 ppg) and rebounds (4.5 rpg).  Carroll started all 25games for the â€Â˜Cats.


Opperman, a senior, was selected for the Best DefensivePlayer and the Coachâ€Â™s Awards.  She had a team-high 36 steals for the seasonand was second on the team with 52 assists.


The Newcomer of the Year and Free Throw Awards were given toDeacon.  The first-year player averaged 9.8 ppg and was 51-59 from the charitystripe (.864).
