BIG RAPIDS, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s track and field team competed at the Bulldog Invitational onSaturday.  The event was held at Ferris State University.


Stephanie Boyer led the Wildcats with a second-place showingin the 200-meter dash as she ran a new school record time of 25.58.  TeammateKaylee Laakso was fifth in the event (26.28).  Two runners were in the topeight in the 100 as Danielle St. Onge was fifth (12.98) and Laakso was eighth(13.09).


Boyer came back a couple of events later to finish third inthe 400 (59.97).  Stephanie Ostrenga in the 800 was the top placing â€Â˜Cat as shewas fourth (2:20.05) and teammate Jacalyn Gross was sixth (2:23.45).  In thedistance events, Jennifer Weidmeyer was eighth in the 1,500 (5:11.23) andBrooke Rediger was seventh in the 3,000 (10:39.68).


Natalie Bertucci ran in the 100 and 400 hurdles as she waseighth (16.05) and 11th (1:13.11) respectively.  Stephanie Mishica(11:57.75) and Brittney Coehoorn (12:11.00) were second and third respectivelyin the 3,000 steeplechase.


The 4x100 relay of Callie Boik, Laakso, Boyer and St. Ongewere fourth with a time of 50.71.  Laakso, Ostrenga, Mishica and Boyer ran a4:04.13 in the 4x400 relay which was good for third place.


Bertucci tied for sixth place in the high jump (5-00.00).  TeammateKristin Carnel tied for ninth in the high jump (5-00.00).  St. Onge was fourthin the long jump with a leap of 16-08.00 and fifth in the triple jump(34-02.75).  Also in the triple jump were Amanda Holtz in seventh (29-08.75)and Jessica Wendling in eighth (29-05.25).  Holtz also placed in the long jumpas she was 12th (14-06.50).  Paris Malin was the top placing â€Â˜Cat inthe field events as she was second in the javelin (100-08).  Also in the javelinwere Boik in seventh (94-03) and Chelsei Bootz eighth (90-09).


The â€Â˜Cats are in action again next week at the SaginawValley State University Invitational on Saturday, April 15.
