FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚“ NathanOystrick and Darin Olver have been named finalist for two Central CollegiateHockey Association (CCHA) awards.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Oystrick is a finalist for the CCHAÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s BestDefensive Defenseman while Olver is a finalist for the CCHA Scholar-Athlete ofthe Year.
Oystrick last yearÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s Defensive Defenseman of the Year, islooking to repeat as the Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚˜Cats captain is a finalist for the award for thethird consecutive year.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ He is joined by Miami captain Andy Greene and Michigan junior Matt Hunwick.Ãƒ‚Ã‚
Olver was designated as NMUÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s Scholar-Athlete of the Yearand is one of 12 from the CCHA.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ The CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year will bechosen from among the group of nominees.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Ãƒ‚Ã‚ The faculty athletic representativeat each school in consultation with the head coach, selected the institutionÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™sScholar-Athlete of the Year.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Each schoolÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s Scholar-Athlete of the Year servesas the schoolÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s nominee for CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.Ãƒ‚Ã‚
Nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 through the fallterm of the selection year to receive the schoolÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s Scholar-Athlete of the Yearaward. The CCHA Scholar-Athlete is selected by the 12 faculty representatives,voting is based on a system that awards five points for a first-place vote,three points for a second-place vote and one point for a third place vote.
The winner of both awards will be announced at the 2006 CCHAAwards which will be held on Thursday, March 16 at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.
