Wildcats To Play In Green Bay

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University hockey team will play a â€Âœhome gameâ€Â off campus next season.  The Wildcatswill face the University of Wisconsin Badgers Oct. 6-7 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis.  Tickets are on sale now at the NMU Ticket Office (906-227-1032). 

 

â€ÂœThis is an exciting opportunity for us.  First of all, Wisconsin has been a long traditional rival with us since being in the WCHA,â€Â said WaltKyle, the NMU head coach. Ã‚  â€ÂœThe game is being played in an area where we feelwe can draw fans from here and expose a large alumni base to our hockeyprogram.â€Â

 

According to NMU Athletic Director Ken Godfrey, the eventwill provide an outlet for NMU.  â€ÂœI think this is a great opportunity for us toplay a top-notch team in a top-notch facility.  The Resch Center is a premierfacility,â€Â Godfrey said.  â€ÂœIt gives a lot of our alumni and students from Wisconsin the opportunity to partake in the activities surrounding the game against a top-notchteam from their home state.â€Â

 

Tickets purchased until March 31 are $20 for adults, $15 forNMU students and children 18 and under.  On April 1 all tickets will be $22 andwill be available on the TicketStar system (www.ticketstaronline.com) or800-895-0071.  Tickets will still be available at the NMU Ticket Office.  Ã‚ TheBadgers provide the â€Â˜Cats with a quality opponent early in the season.  â€ÂœWisconsin has turned into one of the best college programs in the country over the lastseveral years,â€Â Kyle said.  â€ÂœIt is certainly a high-quality opponent.  We areexcited to have an opportunity to play them in such a great venue.â€Â
