CABLE, Wis. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s cross country ski team competed at the Telemark NorAm SuperTour in Cable, Wis. over the weekend. The women were second in the collegiate team results for the classicrace with 66 points as Alaska Fairbanks won the event with 77.  The â€Â˜Cats weresecond in the freestyle event with 57 points, behind the Nanooks (72).


Tami Kochen led the â€Â˜Cats on Saturday (Jan. 28) in the 5Kclassic with a third place finish with a time of 17:13.8.  Two other skierswere in the top 10 as Kelly Ahern was fifth (18:09.2) and Jennifer Wygant wasninth (19:25.7). 


Kochen was second in the 10K freestyle event on Sunday (Jan.29) after covering the course in a time of 24:32.1.  Wygant was sixth (25:32.0)and Ahern eighth (27:18.3).


The team skates at the Twin Cities Sprints this weekend(Feb. 4-5) in St. Paul, Minn.
