CABLE, Wis. Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚“ The Northern Michigan University menÃƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚™s cross country ski team competed at the Telemark NorAm SuperTour in Cable, Wis. over the weekend. The men were second in the collegiate team results for the classicrace with 70 points as Alaska Fairbanks won the event with 75.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ The Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚˜Cats werethird in the freestyle event with 56 points, behind the Nanooks (70) andMichigan Tech (66).
Saturday (Jan. 28) was the 10K classic race.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Gus Kaedingwas the top NMU finisher as he was third with a time of 29:59.3.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Teammate PhilViolett was about seven seconds back in fourth place (30:06.2).Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Down the list,but still in the top 10 was Ben Cline in eighth place (30:28.4).Ãƒ‚Ã‚ AdriaanOstrander was just outside the top 10 with an 11th place finish (30:52.0).Ãƒ‚Ã‚
Cline was the top Ãƒ¢Ã‚€Ã‚˜Cat finisher on Sunday (Jan. 29) in the15K freestyle race.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ He covered the course in a time of 37:14.5 which was goodfor sixth place.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Kaeding and Violett were 13th and 14threspectively with times of 37:50.3 and 37:53.0.Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Ostrander was the final NMUskier to cross the finish line in 19th place (39:11.0).
The team skates at the Twin Cities Sprints this weekend(Feb. 4-5) in St. Paul, Minn.
