
MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Members of the Northern Michigan UniversityStudent-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) went to Bothwell Middle School yesterday to work with the National Junior Honor Society. Members of the SAACbrought their favorite book and a piece of equipment that represents theirsport to share with the members of the Honor Society. Honor Society membersinterviewed the SAAC representatives in order to complete a bulletin boardproject that they are doing at Bothwell. The SAAC members also stayed atBothwell during lunch recess to spend more time with the middle schoolstudents.ÂÂ
TheStudent-Athlete Advisory Committee will be conducting a Chuck-a-Puck contest atthis Saturday's, Dec. 17, hockey game. The SAAC will be selling numberedfoam-rubber pucks for $1 and between the 2nd and 3rd period those pucks arethrown out onto the ice. The person whose puck lands closest to the center-icewins half of the money collected. The proceeds benefit the Make-A-WishFoundation.
The TeddyBear Toss is an annual event hosted by the SAAC benefiting local needychildren. The SAAC asks that anyone attending Sundayâ€Â™s, Dec. 18, hockey gameto bring a Teddy Bear to toss out onto the ice after the 1st period. The SAACwill collect the teddy bears and distribute them during the Holiday Season toarea needy children.
