MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University menâ€Â™s cross country ski team competed over the weekend in two races.  Saturday(Dec. 10) the squad skated against Michigan Tech then on Sunday (Dec. 11) the teamtraveled up the road and competed at Tech.


Racing at Saux Head on Saturday the â€Â˜Cats defeated theHuskies, 15-6.  Bryan Cook won the race as he covered the course in a time of28:09.  Phil Violett was the next â€Â˜Cat to cross the finish line in fourth place(30:05) as teammate, Adriaan Ostrander, was next (30:08).  Bret Beard followedin seventh place (30:24) and Gus Kaeding in 11th (31:03).  JasonKask placed 19th (32:36).


Cook made it two in a row as he won the race at MTU onSunday with a time of 29:38.  He led the â€Â˜Cats to a team victory with 21points, MTU was next with 18 and Finlandia had six.  Ostrander finished inseventh (31:22) as he was followed by Violett in 10th (31:39) andBedard in 12th (32:24). 


This week the team will go back up to Tech for the ChristmasClassic over the weekend (Dec. 17-18).
