Two Assistants Named To NMU Football Staff

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Bernie Anderson, the headfootball coach at Northern Michigan University, announces his first twoselections to his coaching staff.  Jeff Duvendeck has been named the offensivecoordinator while Chadd Braine will be the defensive coordinator.  â€ÂœWe are veryfortunate at Northern Michigan right now to hire two coordinators who are veryqualified young men,â€Â Anderson said.

 

Duvendeck spent the past three seasons (2003-05) at Michigan Tech University, where he was the offensive line coach and recruitingcoordinator.  While at Tech he coached three NCAA II All-Americans and two whowere GLIAC Offensive Lineman of the Year.  A former running back at Central Michigan University, he graduated with a bachelorâ€Â™s degree in health promotion andrehabilitation in 2001. Ã‚  He spent the following season (2001) as a graduateassistant at Tiffin University working with the running backs.  In 2002, hemoved to Grand Valley State University as a graduate assistant working with theoffensive line and helped the Lakers win a NCAA II National Championship.  â€ÂœWefeel very fortunate to have someone of Jeffâ€Â™s caliber to be an offensivecoordinator,â€Â Anderson added.

 

Braine was the linebackers coach at MTU for the past twoseasons (2004-05).  He coached the defensive backs at the University of South Dakota during the 2003 season.  For three seasons (2000-03) he was the defensivecoordinator and linebackers coach at Ferrum College.  He led his Ferrum team toan NCAA III top 10 ranking in total defense twice in his three-year stint.   Brainewas a four-time letterwinner in track and field and football at East Stroudsburg University.  He earned both a bachelorâ€Â™s (1999) and masterâ€Â™s (2001) degreein health and physical education from ESU.  â€ÂœHe has been an NCAA IIIcoordinator.  Chad now has an opportunity for the second time to be defensivecoordinator,â€Â Anderson said. 

 

What Anderson likes in both coordinators is that they areboth good people and good recruiters.
