MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Northern Michigan Universityâ€Â™s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is sponsoring a chuck-a-puckand teddy bear toss during the hockey games on Dec. 17-18.  SAAC is a group ofone to two members from each team which acts as a voice for student-athletes attheir respective university, conference and NCAA. The committee helps improvethe overall experience which student-athletes receive during their collegiatecareers.


The chuck-a-puck will take place on Saturday, Dec. 17 whenthe NMU hockey team hosts Western Michigan University at 7:35 p.m. Pucks willbe sold at the Berry Events Center for $1. Between the second and third period,participants will throw their pucks onto the ice aiming at the center iceface-off circle. The puck closest to the circle will win half the moneycollected; the other half benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation.


SAAC also will be selling green NMU bracelets at Saturdayâ€Â™sgame for $2. All money collected is donated to Make-A-Wish.


The teddy bear toss will takeplace on Sunday, Dec. 18 when the same teams face off at 2:05 p.m.   Fans areasked to bring teddy bears that they can throw onto the ice between the secondand third period. NMU student-athletes will deliver the teddy bears to childrenin need during the holiday season.
