WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. â€Â“ Four skiers with ties tothe Northern Michigan University cross country ski team have been named to theU.S. Ski Team which will compete at five cross country World Cup races inDecember in Canada as part of the lead-up to the Olympics in February.


The skiers were named to the team following the SuperTourraces which were held over the Thanksgiving weekend on the Rendezvous SkiTrails.  The skiers will compete in two events Dec. 10-11 at Sovereign Lake in Vernon, B.C. and in three more races Dec. 15-18 at Canmore, Alberta, the 1988Olympic cross country venue.


Former NMU skiers on the team are Chris Cook on the menâ€Â™sand Abigail Larson on the womenâ€Â™s side.  Current skiers selected were LindsayWilliams and Lindsey Weier.


Williams was fifth in the SuperTour sprint with a time2:32.74.  Former NMU skiers, Caitlin Compton was 10th in the event(2:34.55) and Aubrey Smith was 12th (2:39.42).  Morgan Smyth coveredthe course in a time of 2:39.84 which was good for 15th as she wasfollowed by former NMU skier, Hilary Patzer (2:40.12).  Tami Kochen finished inthe top 20 at 19th (2:41.56). 


Williams was second in the 12k classic with a time of42:30.4.  Larson was fourth (43:09.5) and Weier was eighth (43:24.6) in the race. Other finishers in the top 20 included:  Smyth at 13th (44:02.7),Kochen at 14th (44:04.6) and Smith at 18th (44:30.0).  Onthe menâ€Â™s side of the event, Bryan Cook was 11th (36:52.0) and C.Cook finished in 28th place (38:27.7).
