'Cats Fall To 0-2 On The Season

DULUTH, Minn

DULUTH, Minn. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s basketball team lost their second straight game at the AmericanFamily Insurance Classic as they fell to the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs 82-59 intonightâ€Â™s contest.  The â€Â˜Cats lost on Friday night to St. Cloud State.  The â€Â˜Cats are now 0-2 on the year. 

 

The â€Â˜Cats and the â€Â˜Dogs battled through the first fiveminutes of the contest but when Minnesota-Duluth took the lead at the 16:01mark of the first half, they never turned back.   At halftime the Bulldogs helda 43-21 lead with 24 of those points coming from Junior All-American LindseyDietz.  Tera Opperman led the â€Â˜Cats in the first half with nine points. 

 

In the second half the â€Â˜Cats came out and shot 52 percentfrom the field, 55 percent from three-point range, and 67 percent from thefree-throw line.  Tera Opperman finished the game with 15 points and threeassists, and Kelsey Deacon added 14 points and four assists.  Dietz lead all scorerswith 33 points on the night. 

 

The â€Â˜Cats are back in action on Tuesday night when they hostthe Finlandia Lions at 5:30 p.m.
