DETROIT, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University volleyball team finally got to play the Wayne State Warriors.  The matchoriginally scheduled for Oct. 7 in Marquette was postponed because the refereesdid not show up on time.  So, the â€Â˜Cats and the Warriors played the matchtonight in Detroit. 


NMU was scheduled to be down state to face Northwood(Saturday) and Saginaw Valley (Sunday) this weekend.  After dropping the firstgame of the match (17-30), NMU settled down and took the next three for the win(30-28, 30-22 and 30-12).  The â€Â˜Cats are now 14-10 overall and 11-5 in theGreat Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).  The Warriors fall to14-9 and 6-9 respectively.


Three â€Â˜Cats were the big hitters on the night as they allhad over 10 kills each.  Andrea Smith led the way with 20 kills.  She ended thematch with a hitting percentage of .311.  Next in the column were Nicole Hintzewith 15 kills and Sam Schulte with 12.  Brittany McGowan had a team-high 35assists while teammate Rachel Martinez added 11.  McGowan added three serviceaces and 20 digs.  NMU had a hitting percentage of .304 for the third game and.367 for the fourth.   Ã‚ 


As a team the â€Â˜Cats had 18 block assists and only one blocksolo.  Holly Greenamyre led the way at the net with one block solo and fourblock assists.  Schulte and Breanne Zaremba each had four block assists. Zaremba added a match-high 27 digs.  Liz Kohn added 16 digs.
