MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ About a month ago the Northern Michigan University volleyball squad played at Grand Valley State and dropped thematch to the Lakers in three straight.  Move ahead and the â€Â˜Cats took care ofthe Lakers in three straight at Vandament Arena on Saturday afternoon.  NMU won30-12, 30-27 and 30-28.  With the win the â€Â˜Cats are now 12-10 overall and 9-5in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).  The Lakersfall to 22-5 and 14-2 respectively.


Nicole Hintze and Andrea Smith combined for 32 of the 54kills on the day.  Hintze led the way with 18 of the kills.  She ended thematch with a hitting percentage of.238 as she just had eight errors.  Smithadded 14 kills in the win.  Meghan Moore led the Lakers with 10 kills.


Defensively the â€Â˜Cats had three players with 10 or more digson the day.  Liz Kohn led the way with 18 digs as she was followed by BrittanyMcGowan with 14 and Hintze had 10.  McGowan also led the way with the ball asshe had 38 assists.  She also was deadly with the serve as she had threeservice aces.


At the net the â€Â˜Cats had eight total team blocks with notone block solo.  Holly Greenamyre had five block assists.  Smith added fourblock assists. Ã‚ ÃƒÃ‚‚ 


Tomorrow is Senior Day (Oct. 30) for the three seniorsplaying in their final home regular season match.  Smith, Greenamyre and Kohnwill hit the court for the final time.  The team will take on Ferris State at 1 p.m.
