NMU Runs To A Second Place Finish At The GLIAC Championships
ISHPEMING, Mich. ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚“ Northern Michigan University hosted the 2005 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) CrossCountry Championships at Al Quaal on Saturday.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ The NMU womenÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚™s cross countryteam finished in second place with 73 points as Grand Valley State University won the event with 23.
Stephanie Howe was the first ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚˜Cat to cross the finish lineas she was third with a clocking of 23:00.9.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Mandi Zemba of Grand Valley State won the event with a time of 22:14.0.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ Jenny Irwin from Ferris State was second as she crossed the finish line with a 22:57.6.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚
Maria Stuber was 14th with a 24:33.0; she wasfollowed by teammates Jane Stieber in 17th (24:46.5), Kelly Ahern in18th (24:51.4) and Danielle Steinke in 21st (25:05.4).ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚ JessicaKalafut with a time of 25:08.5 was 23rd as next for the ÃƒƒÃ‚¢Ãƒ‚Ã‚€Ãƒ‚Ã‚˜Cats wasBrooke Redinger in 28th (25:22.8).
NMU will be back in action at the NCAA II RegionalChampionships which will be held at Ferris State University on Nov. 5.ÃƒƒÃ‚‚Ãƒ‚Ã‚
