NMU Volleyball Swept In Ohio

 

FINDLAY, Ohio â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s volleyball teamâ€Â™s travel to Ohio this weekend will not go down as afun trip.  For the second day the â€Â˜Cats were swept, today The University ofFindlay did the sweeping.  The Oilers won 21-30, 22-30 and 29-31.  NMU is now10-9 overall and 7-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference(GLIAC).  UF improves to 16-8 and 8-4 respectively.

 

Andrea Smith had 17 kills to collect match-high honors. Nicole Hintze was the only other â€Â˜Cat to break the 10 kills mark with 13.  NMUhad a hitting percentage of .176 for the match with 48 kills in 125 attempts. Brittany McGowan had 32 assists for the match.

 

Hintze added eight digs in the loss as did Breanne Zaremba. The â€Â˜Cats did not register a block solo on the day, but Sara Keilman andMadeleine McNally each had two block assists.  As a team NMU had three teamblocks.

 

This week the â€Â˜Cats will have two home matches.  It allbegins on Tuesday night (Oct. 18) against Michigan Tech.  Saturday (Oct. 22)the â€Â˜Cats host the Lakers of Lake Superior State.
