KENOSHA, Wis. â€Â“ Stephanie Howe placedsecond overall, but was the first collegiate runner to cross the finish line atthe 2005 UW-Parkside Invitational on Saturday.  She led the Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s cross country team to the team title.  Howe covered the5,000-meter course in 18:14.  Maureeca Lambert won the event with a clocking of17:53.  The â€Â˜Cats had 64 points, the University of Chicago was second with 81and DePauw was third with 98.


The â€Â˜Cats next three runners were all in the top 15.  JaneSteiber was 12th as she covered the course in 18:57, Kelly Ahern thenext runner with a 14th place showing (19:00) and Maria Stuber wasthree seconds back in 15th (19:03).  Brooke Rediger was the finalâ€Â˜Cat to score team points with a 22nd place showing (19:17).


NMU will host the GLIAC Cross Country Championships nextSaturday (Oct. 22) at the Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming.
