BIG RAPIDS, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s volleyball team picked up an important road win with the 3-1decision against the Ferris State University Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. NMU took the first two games of the match 30-21 and 30-24.  FSU took the thirdgame, 22-30, before the â€Â˜Cats won the fourth game 31-29.  NMU is now 9-7overall and 6-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference(GLIAC).  FSU fell to 13-5 and 3-3 in conference action.


Andrea Smith had the hot arm with 24 kills in 48 totalattempts for a hitting percentage of .417.  For the match NMU had 55 killstotal.  Holly Greenamyre added 14 kills in the win.  Greenamyre at the netadded three block assists.  Rachel Martinez had 40 assists to pace the â€Â˜Cats.


Three â€Â˜Cats had 10 or more digs for the afternoon.  Liz Kohnled the way with 20 digs as Nicole Hintze and Martinez both added 10.  NMU didnot have a block solo for the match, but had four total team blocks.


NMU will play their next two matches at home.  First up is Wayne State on Friday, Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. then the â€Â˜Cats face Hillsdale on Saturday (Oct. 8)at 4 p.m.
