MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Saturday afternoon at theNMU Soccer Field saw the Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s soccer team openup Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.  NMU spottedthe visiting Ferris State University Bulldogs a 1-0 lead on the pitch beforetaking the game 2-1.  The â€Â˜Cats improve to 5-3 overall. FSU fell to 7-5 overalland 1-1 in GLIAC action.


Lindsey Pawloski gave the Bulldogs the early 1-0 lead with agoal at 12:06 of the contest.  Renee LeBlanc tied the game at one-all with herteam-high eighth goal of the season at 16:40.  Sara Allan had the assist on thegoal.  With less than three minutes left in regulation, Casey Wilcox receivedthe ball from Brittney Buchanan, and knocked home the winner at 86:48.


The Bulldogs dominated the stats.  FSU had 24 shots for thegame as 13 were on goal.  NMU had eight shots with four on goal.  Corner kickssaw the visitors with eight as the home team had one.  Karen LeBlanc, the NMUgoalkeeper, had 12 saves for the game.


The â€Â˜Cats are back in action on the NMU pitch tomorrow (Oct.2) against Grand Valley State University at noon.
