'Cats Drop Match To Grand Valley

 

ALLENDALE, Mich. â€Â“ Friday night at Grand Valley State University the Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s volleyball team wasdefeated in three straight by the Lakers.  The home team won by scores of18-30, 20-30 and 26-30.  NMU falls to 8-7 on the season and 5-2 in the GLIAC. GVSU improves to 13-4 and 5-1 respectively.

 

Andrea Smith was the lone â€Â˜Cat to crack over 10 kills on thenight as she ended the match with 11.  As a team, NMU had 33 kills in 120 totalattempts for a hitting percentage of .033.  Nicole Hintze was next with eightkills.

 

Brittany McGowan ended the contest with 15 assists and 11digs.  Megan Elliot had a team-leading 12 digs.  At the net, Schulte added twoblock solos and one block assist.  Smith had one block solo and two blockassists.

 

NMU travels up the road to Big Rapids, Mich. to face Ferris State tomorrow at 4 p.m.
