KENOSHA, Wis. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan Universitywomenâ€Â™s cross country team placed second at the Midwest Championships whichwere held Saturday at UW-Parkside.  The â€Â˜Cats tallied 75 points asNorthwestern won the meet with 64.  NMU placed three runners in the top15.


Jane Steiber led the way with a seventh place showing in atime of 18:55.  Teammate Kelly Ahern was next one second behind Steiber(18:56).  Also finishing in the top 15 was Brooke Rediger in 12thplace with a clocking of 18:59.  Scoring points for the â€Â˜Cats in 22ndplace was Jessica Kalafut (19:21) and Maria Stuber in 26th(19:29).  Two other runners competed for the â€Â˜Cats, but did not score anypoints.  Jenny Wiedmeyer was 36th (19:41) and Brittany Coehoornfinished 38th (19:43).


The runners will compete next week at the Ferris StateInvitational (Sept. 24).
