'Cats Go Two-for-erie


 

ERIE, Pa. â€Â“ For the second night in a row the Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s volleyball team just needed three games to win theirmatch.  The victim on Friday night was the Golden Knights of Gannon University(30-8, 30-16 and 30-22).  With the win the â€Â˜Cats won their fifth straight matchof the season and are now 6-5 overall and 3-0 in the GLIAC.  Gannon drops to5-7 and 0-2 in conference play.

 

In the first two games of the match the â€Â˜Cats had a hittingpercentage of .436 in the first game (19/39) and .407 in the second game(15/27).  Sam Schulte had a sizzling .667 hitting percentage on 13 kills in 18total attempts.  Holly Greenamyre added 11 kills in the win.

 

Brittany McGowan dished the rock 23 times for match-highhonors.  NMU had nine service aces on the night as Paris Malin led the way withthree.  Breanne Zaremba added seven digs and two block assists.  Schulte addedfive digs, one block solo and four block assists.

 

The â€Â˜Cats will finally have a home match next week with a weekendtilt against Northwood on Friday night (Sept. 23) at 7 p.m. and Saginaw Valleyon Saturday afternoon (Sept. 24) at 4 p.m.
