Two 'Cats Named GLIAC Players Of The Week

 

BAY CITY, Mich. â€Â“ Two Northern Michigan University football players were honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate AthleticConference (GLIAC) for their respective play against Mercyhurst on Saturdaynight.  Brad Anderson (Hancock, Mich.) was named the GLIAC Offensive Player ofthe Week while teammate Chad Kurian (Ishpeming, Mich.) was selected the GLIACDefensive Player of the Week. 

 

Anderson (So., RB, 5-9, 180), playing in only his secondgame for the Wildcats, scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead NMU to acome-from-behind victory over Mercyhurst, 40-35.  He had a game-high 137rushing yards on 17 carries (8.1 avg.), scoring on runs of two, six and 19yards.  Anderson also caught two passes for six yards.  His touchdown run ofsix yards with 8:16 left in the game gave the â€Â˜Cats the lead for good.

 

Kurian (Sr., LB, 5-10, 225) had an outstanding individualeffort in NMUâ€Â™s win over Mercyhurst.  The senior linebacker tallied 11 totaltackles (eight solo, three assists), four tackles-for-loss (-25 yards),including three sacks (-21 yards), one interception and one forced fumble. 

 

The â€Â˜Cats take to the road this week as the squad will playat The University of Findlay on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7:00 p.m.
