EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s volleyball squad bounced back on Saturday with two wins at the SIUECougar Classic.  The â€Â˜Cats defeated Drury in their first match of the day 3-1(22-30, 30-21, 30-24, 30-27) and then Missouri Southern in the afternoon matchin four games (30-23, 23-30, 30-17, 30-19).  With the two wins the â€Â˜Cats arenow 3-5 on the season and will begin GLIAC play on Tuesday night, Sept. 13 atMichigan Tech.


Against Drury three â€Â˜Cats had over 10 kills for the match. Sam Schulte and Nicole Hintze both had 16 to pace the squad.  Holly Greenamyreadded 14 kills in the win.  For the match NMU had a hitting percentage of .209(69-182).  Brittany McGowan had a match-high 53 assists.  Hintze added 17 digsand two block assists to her play for the match.  Paris Malin and Megan Elliotboth added 13 digs against Drury.


Schulte again led the â€Â˜Cats against Missouri Southern with16 kills.  Greenamyre added 15 while Hintze had 14 kills.  As a team NMU had ahitting percentage of .224 (62-170) for the match.  Andrea Smith ended thematch as the fourth â€Â˜Cat with 10 or more kills as she had 10.  McGowan for thesecond match of the day had a match-high assists with 52.  Hintze and McGowanboth had over 20 digs with 22 and 21 respectively. Schulte added one block soloand three block assists with her play at the net.
