'Cats Picked 12th In GLIAC Preseason Football Poll

 

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University football team was picked 12th in the Great LakesIntercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) preseason football poll, which wasreleased as part of the GLIAC Football Media Day.

 

The â€Â˜Cats tallied 31 points as Grand Valley was picked asthe top team in the conference with 143 total points.  The Lakers grabbed 11 ofthe 13 first place votes.  Northwood was picked second with 129 votes and onefirst place vote.  The Cardinals of Saginaw Valley were picked third with 127votes and one first place nod.

 

The leagueâ€Â™s 13 head coaches participated in the balloting,but were not allowed to vote for their own team.  The first place team on eachballot received 12 points, while second received 11 points, etc.

 

NMU is coming off a 2-8 season in 2004 and will open the2005 campaign against Michigan Tech on August 27 in the Superior Dome.
