Sten Fjeldheim Picks Up Another Award


 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ Sten Fjeldheim wasnamed the Central Cross Country Skiing 2005 Coach of the Year.  Fjeldheim wasselected for his outstanding work with junior and young senior athletes.  His Northern Michigan University squad produced NCAA All-Americans Lindsay Williams, LindseyWeier and Bryan Cook for the past season. 

 

Williams also captured the U.S. National Sprint title andwas third fastest American at nationals in the 5K classic.  Two NMU skiers qualifiedfor the Junior World Team and Williams competed in her first World Cup event.

 

In early May, Fjeldheim, received the United States Ski andSnowboard Association (USSA) Coach of the Year Award â€Â“ Development and the USSACross Country Domestic Coach of the Year.   The USSA is the NationalGoverning Body for Olympic Skiing and Snowboarding.  This is the secondtime that he has picked up the award as he won it in 2000 and is the onlytwo-time recipient.
