Final Four For NMU Women's Basketball Post

 

MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Â“ The search for the nexthead womenâ€Â™s basketball coach at Northern Michigan University has now reachedthe final four stage.  The search committee will interview the followingcandidates beginning next week.  Doug Ingalls, Erica Ledy, Kris Dunbar and TroyMattson are the finalist for the position.  Three of the four finalists haveconnections to NMU.

 

Ingalls â€Â“ Currently the head varsity boyâ€Â™s basketballcoach at St. Ignace High School, where he is 202-88â€Â¦ Also the varsity girlâ€Â™sassistant and co-head coach at St. Ignaceâ€Â¦His boyâ€Â™s teams have won sevenconference, four district titles and one regional titleâ€Â¦The girlâ€Â™s team since1999 have won five conference, six district, four regional titles, four FinalFour appearances, one state runner-up and two Class C StateChampionshipsâ€Â¦Received his bachelorâ€Â™s degree from NMU in 1991â€Â¦All-time leaderin assists in NMU menâ€Â™s basketball history (633 assists)â€Â¦Named the MichiganHigh School Coaches Association Boyâ€Â™s Basketball Coach of the Year, the BCAMOverall All-Class Boyâ€Â™s Coach of the Year and the A.P. Coach of the Year forthe 2000-01 season.

 

Ledy â€Â“ Since 2002 has been the head womenâ€Â™sbasketball coach at New England Collegeâ€Â¦Other head coaching stops have been atNorthern Colorado (2000-01), Northwood University (1997-00) and Lake SuperiorState (1990-97)â€Â¦At LSSU was 121-71 and left as the all-time winningestcoachâ€Â¦Served as the NMU assistant womenâ€Â™s basketball coach from 1988-90â€Â¦Was afour-time All-GLIAC performer and GLIAC All-Academic selection threetimes...Received masterâ€Â™s degree from NMU in 1995.

 

Dunbar â€Â“ Just concluded her seventh season on theLSSU womenâ€Â™s basketball benchâ€Â¦Became the all-time wins leader in LSSU womenâ€Â™sbasketball history this past season (passed Ledy on the list), she is currently133-64 with the Lakersâ€Â¦In the past four seasons, Dunbar has guided the Lakersto four GLIAC North and two GLIAC Tournament titles to go along with 20 or morewins in each of the seasonsâ€Â¦Had the LSSU womenâ€Â™s basketball team ranked as highas fifth in the country for the 2004-05 seasonâ€Â¦Lakers have made four NCAATournament appearances under Dunbarâ€Â¦Named the GLIAC Womenâ€Â™s Basketball Coach ofthe year after the 2001-02 and 2004-05 seasonsâ€Â¦Began collegiate coaching careerat Elmira College (1995-97)â€Â¦Graduated from LSSU with a bachelorâ€Â™s degree (1992)and from Elmira College (1997) with a masterâ€Â™s.

 

Mattson â€Â“ Long-time associate/assistant menâ€Â™sbasketball coach at NMU since 1988â€Â¦Promoted to associate head menâ€Â™s basketballcoach in 1994â€Â¦Was also the head womenâ€Â™s tennis coach at NMUâ€Â¦Named the DivisionII/ITA Womenâ€Â™s Tennis Coach of the Year in 2003 for the Great Lakes Region andwas the GLIAC Coach of the Year for womenâ€Â™s tennis in 2000 and 2002â€Â¦Assistantmenâ€Â™s and womenâ€Â™s basketball coach at LSSU from 1986-88â€Â¦Co-Captain of the NMUmenâ€Â™s basketball team in 1984-85â€Â¦Third on the all-time NMU assist list (486assists)â€Â¦Earned both bachelorâ€Â™s (1986) and masterâ€Â™s (1994) degrees from NMU.
