ALLENDALE, Mich. â€Â“ Thefirst day of the 2005 GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships is in thebook.  The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s team is tied with TheUniversity of Findlay for fifth place, after six events that were scored, with14 points.  Grand Valley State University leads the competition with 98points.  To follow the action go to the link: 


Kara Farquhar placed sixth in the 10,000-meter run with atime of 39:08.42.  Brittney Coehoorn was eighth in the 3,000 steeplechase asshe ran the course in a time of 12:12.01.  The â€Â˜Cats had two scorers in thejavelin as Tiffany Grubaugh was second in the event with a throw of 129-07(39.50m) and teammate Callie Boik was seventh with a heave of 102-04 (31.19m).


Entering the second and final day of competition Jennie Lahrhas the top time after the prelims in the 1,500 run with a time of 4:37.23.  Twoother â€Â˜Cats have advanced in the 1,500 as Brooke Rediger (4:52.63) and JessicaKalafut (4:49.25) will run in the event today.  Stephanie Boyer qualified forthe next round in the 400 with a 58.31 in the prelims.
