
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s track and field team placed fourth at the 2005 SVSUOutdoor Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. The â€Â˜Cats tallied 120.50 pointsas Ferris State won the invitational with 161.50 points. A total of 10 teamswere at the event. For complete meet results follow the link
Stephanie Boyer won the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.63and was third in the 200 dash (27.00). Danielle St. Onge was the top placingâ€Â˜Cat in the 100 with a fourth place showing (13.44) and then placed fifth inthe 200 (27.84). Callie Boik scored points for the â€Â˜Cats in the 100 with a timeof 13.72, which was good for sixth place.
The distance events the â€Â˜Cats came up big. Jessica Kalafutwas third in the 1500 with a time of 4:51.27. Brooke Rediger won the 3000(10:41.03), teammate Danielle Stein was second (10:59.49) and fellow â€Â˜Cat JaneStieber was fifth (11:25.74). The 5000 saw Kara Farquhar finish in fourthplace (18:52.06) and Jamie Grunert was next with a time of 18:55.14. BrittneyCoehoorn won the 3000 steeplechase in a time of 11:51.16 and teammate StephanieMishica was third (12:31.94).ÂÂÂ
The 4x100 relay of Boik, St. Onge, Boyer and Kaylee Laaksowas second in the event with a clocking of 50.54. The team from Aquinas wonthe race in a time of 48.54. Boyer, Kalafut, Mishica and Laakso were themembers of the 4x400 relay that placed fifth in the event (4:19.17).ÂÂÂ
The field events saw the â€Â˜Cats Sarah Ray tie for seventh inthe high jump (4-08.00). Leslie Luehmann was fifth in the long jump (16-08.00)and third in the triple jump (34-02.00). St. Onge was second in the triplejump (34-03.00). Tiffany Grubaugh continues to make the transition from thehardwood to the track with a third place showing in shot put (42-03.50) and aseventh place finish in the discus (107-09).ÂÂÂ
The â€Â˜Cats are back in action at the Northwood Invitationalthis Saturday (April 23).
