STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Northern MichiganUniversity womenâ€Â™s track and field team placed second at the ColdmanInvitational that was held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point onSaturday (for complete results go to:ÂÂÂ
Stephanie Boyer placed fourth in the 200-meter dash to pickup team points for the â€Â˜Cats as she ran a 27.05 in the finals. She then placedthird in the 400 dash with a clocking of 58.86 in the event. Jennie Lahrpicked up a win for the â€Â˜Cats in the 800 as she ran a 2:18.63. Brooke Rediger(2:20.80) and Jessica Kalafut (2:20.94) were fourth and fifth in the eventrespectively.
The â€Â˜Cats took the top three spots in the 1500 as Lahr wonthe event with a clocking of 4:42.45 as teammates Rediger (4:49.05) and Kalafut(4:51.79) were the next two to cross the finish line. Jamie Grunert was secondin the 10,000 with a time of 39:37.92 as Kara Farquhar was third (40:17.48).ÂÂÂ
NMU had two runners scoring points in the 100 hurdles asLeslie Luehmann was fifth (16.36) and Amanda Holtz (17.36) was seventh. Brittney Coehorn placed second in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:57.70while teammate Stephanie Mishica placed fourth (12:29.32).
The 4x100 relay of Callie Boik, Luehmann, Boyer and KayleeLaakso placed fifth as they ran a 51.10. Laakso, Boyer, Kalafut and Lahr werethe 4x400 relay that placed fourth (4:11.93).
Luehmann led the â€Â˜Cats in the field events with a secondplace showing in the long jump (16-09.25) and in the triple jump (34-11.25). Tiffany Grubaugh, trading in her basketball gear for the track, was therunner-up in shot put with a throw of 41-10.00. Â Ã‚ She then placed third in thediscus with a throw of 133-07.
The â€Â˜Cats are in action again this weekend (April 16) at theSaginaw Valley State Open.
