HAYWARD, Wis. â€Â“ Over the weekend members ofthe Northern Michigan University cross country ski teams competed at theAmerican Birkebeiner event.  Maria Stuber, Stephanie Howe and assistant coachJenny Ryan competed for the women.  On the menâ€Â™s side Mike New, AdriaanOstrander and head coach Sten Fjeldheim skied in the event.


Stuber won the freestyle division for the women with a timeof 1:05:21.62.  She placed 29th overall in the event.  Teammate Howewas a little more than three seconds behind Stuber in third place with a timeof 1:08:45.63.  She was 49th overall in the event.  Ryan skied thecourse in a time of 2:44:36.15 which placed her 34th in the womenâ€Â™sdivision and fifth in her age group (35-39).


Newâ€Â™s time of 2:14:18.72 placed him 31st in theevent.  He was eighth in his age group (18-24).  Ostrander was 38thwith a time of 2:14:43.27.  He was 11th in his age group (18-24). Fjeldheim covered the course in a time of 2:15:00.62 which ranked him 39thand third in his age group (45-49).
