FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. â€Â“ The CentralCollegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced that junior forward DirkSouthern has been named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month forFebruary.

Southern had points in six of eight games, including threemulti-point games and three game-winning goals to lead the Wildcats to a 5-1-2record.  He opened February with a goal and two assists in a 6-3 victory overAlaska Fairbanks; Southern finished the month with a career-best five points, notchinga goal and four assists, in a 6-3 win at Ferris State.  The month also sawSouthern contribute a goal and an assist in a win and a tie with WesternMichigan while firing two goals and an assist in a series with Michigan Tech.

Southern is tied for the national lead with six game-winninggoals on the season.  His three February game-winners came at home againstAlaska Fairbanks and on the road during victories over Michigan Tech and Ferris State.  He struck for two power-play goals and a short-handed marker during themonth as well.

Southern averaged 1.625 points-per-game during February,when he had a four-game point streak and a three-game goal streak.  Overall, hehas registered 10-17-27 in 26 games this season.   Ã‚
