BIG RAPIDS, Mich. â€Â“ Sometimes a win and on the road nomatter how it is done is always welcome.  The Northern Michigan University hockey team had a season-low 15 shots on goal, but still won the game 5-2 over theFerris State University Bulldogs on Friday night at Ewigleben Ice Arena.  Withthe win the â€Â˜Cats are now 17-9-7 on the season and 14-7-4 in the CCHA.  Ferrisfalls to 11-18-4 and 6-15-4 respectively.


The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Joe Van Culinscored a marker at 4:51 of the first period.  NMU then answered with a goal at16:32 of the period as Mike Santorelli scored his 15th goal of theseason.  Nathan Oystrick assisted on the goal.  Dusty Collins then gave theâ€Â˜Cats the lead for good with his first goal of the season at 17:55 to make thescore 2-1.  Clayton Lainsbury and John Miller assisted. 


Santorelli then gave the â€Â˜Cats a two-goal lead with hissecond goal of the night and 16th of the season at 13:46 of thesecond period.  Andrew Contois assisted on the goal.  The Bulldogs came withinone when Greg Rallo scored his seventh of the season to make the score 3-2 at1:48 of the third period.


The remainder of the third period would be all Darin Olveras he turned the light on twice in the period.  His first goal of the finalframe came at 9:44 for his eighth of the season to give the â€Â˜Cats the 4-2 lead. Matt Maunu assisted.  Olver then added an empty-net goal, which was his ninthof the season, for the final score at 19:11.  Pat Bateman assisted on the goal.


Ferris had 39 shots on goal as Tuomas Tarkki turned away 37of the shots.  Derek MacIntyre for the Bulldogs had 10 saves on the night. Both squads were 0-6 on the power play.


The â€Â˜Cats and the Bulldogs will square off again on Saturdaynight at 7:05 p.m.
