Bryan Cook Wins Both Races At Central Conference


 

LITTLE FALLS, Minn. â€Â“ The Northern MichiganUniversity menâ€Â™s cross country ski team competed at the Central Conferenceraces over the weekend at Camp Ripley which is located near Little Falls, Minn.  The event also served as a NCAA qualifier.  NMU had two of the top four finishers onSaturday (Feb. 12) in the 10K classic race and won the team title with 83points one point better than Michigan Techâ€Â™s 82.  On Sunday in the 16Kfreestyle race NMU had two of the top three finishers and won the team titlewith 86 points which was 10 points better than UW-Green Bayâ€Â™s 76.

 

Bryan Cook won the classic race in a time of 24:07.8 whichwas a little under a minute over the second place skier Aaron Ditty fromMichigan Tech (25:06.8).  Gus Kaeding was fourth in the event (25:33.9) as BillBowler was seventh (25:44.7).  The next two NMU skiers to place were JustinSingleton in the 10th spot (27:17.5) and Adriaan Ostrander was 30th(28:01.1).

 

Cook won the other half of the weekendâ€Â™s races when he capturedthe freestyle race.  He covered the course in a time of 39:33.0.  TeammateBowler was third in the event with a time of 40:25.9.  Kaeding (40:50.9) andOstrander (40:51.6) were sixth and seventh respectively in the race. Ã‚ Singleton (41:10.1) was 11th in the event.

 

NMU will ski again at the NCAA Midwest RegionalChampionships which will be held at Michigan Tech from Feb. 26-27.
