KENOSHA, Wis. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan University womenâ€Â™s track and field team competed at the Carthage College/Tadd MetzgerInvitational on Saturday.  NMU was third in the team competition with 107.5points out of 12 teams.  Carthage was first with 143 points followed by Aquinas College with 116.5.


Stephanie Boyer got the â€Â˜Cats off and running with a fourthplace showing in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.69.  Kaylee Laakso wasseventh in the event (27.34).  Boyer then placed second in the 400 dash with aclocking of 1:00.75.  Scoring points for the â€Â˜Cats in the 600 run was StephanieMishica as she was fifth with a time of 1:46.97.


In the 1,000 run, NMUâ€Â™s Jessica Kalafut was second in theevent (3:09.99).  Jennie Lahr ran a NCAA II provisional time in the mile run asshe won the event with a time of 4:56.88 and teammate Brooke Rediger was thirdin the event (5:13.91).  Brittney Coehorn and Jane Stieber were third andfourth in the 3,000 run with times of 10:58.36 and 10:58.64 respectively.  Theâ€Â˜Cats would place well in another distance run as Kara Farquhar (18:48.88) andJamie Grunert (19:01.96) were second and third in the 5,000. 


Leslie Luehmann was fifth in the 55 high hurdles (9.25). The 4x200 relay of Callie Boik, Laakso, Luehmann and Boyer were third with atime of 1:50.29.  Also third was the 4x400 relay of Boyer, Kalafut, Mishica andLahr (4:19.89).  The distance medley relay won the event and improved theirNCAA II provisional time to 12:30.67.  Members of the relay were Kalafut,Laakso, Mishica and Rediger.


The field events saw the â€Â˜Cats, Mishica palce fourth in theevent with a vault of 9-09.  Boyer and Luehmann both placed in the long jump. Boyer was sixth (16-04.25) and Luehmann was seventh (15-0.75).  Kelly Pavlovichwas seventh in the shot put with a throw of 34-10.25.

The â€Â˜Cats will have intersquad meet on Saturday, Feb. 12 inthe Superior Dome, before competing at the GLIAC Indoor Track and FieldChampionships at Saginaw Valley State University the weekend of Feb. 25-26.
