CABLE, Wis. â€Â“ The Northern Michigan Universitywomenâ€Â™s cross country ski team competed at the NorAm Super Tour which was heldat the Telemark Resort over the weekend in Cable, Wis.  On Saturday (Jan. 29)the women competed in the 10K classic race and on Sunday it was the 10Kfreestyle event. 


All six NMU skiers placed in the top 10 in the classic eventon Saturday.  NMU had the top two finishers in the event.  Tami Kochen won theevent with a time of 36:27.86 as teammate Lindsay Williams was almost 29seconds behind her with a clocking of 36:56.83.  Fourth was Morgan Smyth(37:43.72) and fifth was Lindsey Weier (37:49.53).  Still in the top 10 wereMaria Stuber in seventh (38:36.72) and Jennifer Wygant in 10th(40:18.89).


Sunday was the same dominance as Saturday, but the â€Â˜Cats hadthe top four places in the freestyle race.  The â€Â˜Cats had five of the top sixskiers in the event as the only blemish was a fifth place showing by JohannaTurunen from UAF. Ã‚ ÃƒÃ‚‚  Weier won the event as she covered the course in24:45.69.  Less than four seconds behind Weier were teammates Kochen in secondplace (24:49.34) and Smyth in third (24:49.53).  Williams was fourth a littleless than five seconds off the winning pace (24:50.63).  Stuber in sixth(25:10.24) and Wygant in 10th (26:54.25) rounded out the skiers inthe event for NMU.


The â€Â˜Cats will be in action again on Feb. 12-13 at theCentral Conference Championships which will be held at St. Cloud, Minn.
